Babar Azam slams comparison to Virat Kohli in heated exchange

Babar Azam scored 43 runs off 37 balls as Peshawar Zalmi defeated Hyderabad Kingsmen in the PSL 2026 match. However, Babar failed to remain unbeaten while chasing 146. The right-handed batter was unable to convert his start into a big total.

A reporter asked him about his inability to finish matches. The reporter even drew comparisons between Babar and Virat Kohli, saying the Indian batter finished games. Babar didn’t like the question.

The outcome of the match between Zalmi and Kingsmen was decided on the final ball of the match.

Reporter: Virat Kohli finishes games, which you lack. People compare him to you. What are your thoughts on comparison?

Babar Azam: Finish these things or keep them to yourself. It is time to end the comparison and move on. I have finished games, and it is your misconception.

Babar is considered one of the best cricketers to represent Pakistan, but he has often faced massive flak for his strike rate in the shortest format of the game. Former players have slammed him.

In the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League, Babar has scored 82 runs at a strike rate of 126.15. He has hit just 10 fours and 1 six, and critics have questioned his boundary count.

Babar has failed to get going across formats in the last few years and was recently dropped from the ODI team. He is likely to be removed from the T20I team, and his place in the Test squad is also not confirmed.
