Shreyas Iyer’s sister Shresta deletes IPL video after online hate

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer’s sister, Shresta, who is a choreographer and dancer, was abused on social media. She had posted a video after the KKR vs PBKS match was called off due to rain in IPL 2026. Both teams got one point each. Shresta posted a video after the outcome.

“Saade Punjabiyan da dil vadda hunda ae. Lo, ditta ek point. (Punjabis are big-hearted. We gave you a point).”

She revealed receiving hate online and deleted the video.

“I’ve decided to take down my recent video as it seems some misunderstood it. It was meant to be light-hearted banter, but I respect that not everyone saw it that way. However, it’s been quite upsetting to receive not just negativity, but also a few threat messages over it. That’s something I didn’t expect, especially for something that was never intended to harm anyone,” Shresta wrote on Instagram.

“I’m not removing the video because I believe I did something wrong, but because I respect my brother and his team, and I don’t want this space to turn into one filled with negativity. Let’s try to be a little kinder and more understanding with each other.”

On Tuesday, Shresta issued a clarification, saying she was not mocking anyone.

“It was just a game, and I don’t understand the reason behind hate. The video was for fun, and I was supporting my brother. I will continue doing it—no hate for any franchise. Everyone should have taken it sportingly,” she said.

“I know about the aggression, but I was not trolling. This is how I celebrate, and I am not going to leave it. There is no need to spread hate. We all should enjoy the game. Rivalry has to be there, but without hate and personal attacks. Peace out, guys,” she added.

Punjab Kings have won two matches and are second with five points in the 19th season of the tournament.
