India women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur has credited last year’s ODI World Cup win at home for giving the team confidence and belief to succeed anywhere in the world. India captured their first ICC trophy in November after defeating South Africa in Navi Mumbai, a victory that has inspired the squad as they gear up for the Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Kingdom from June 12 to July 5.
“Look, I believe that in any field, you need to achieve something extraordinary, like winning a title, to earn recognition. Otherwise, all the hard work feels like it’s in vain,” Harmanpreet said during the naming ceremony of a stand in her honor at the Omaxe Stadium in Dwarka.
“It’s not just our team as generations of women cricketers before us have worked incredibly hard, sometimes even funding themselves. That’s why winning a title was so important. The support and recognition we’re receiving from fans, the media, and everyone else now means a lot to us,” she added.

“A series with multiple formats should definitely happen because it presents a lot of challenges. Every week, you’re required to play in a different format, so it’s a completely unique experience,” she mentioned.
“As cricketers, we’ve never experienced anything like this before. In the past, we mostly played either T20s or ODIs, but playing all three formats together proved quite challenging.”
India started strong by winning the T20I series 2-1 but struggled in the ODIs and the Test.
