Delhi Capitals react playfully as kevin Pietersen hints at CSK mentorship

Chennai Super Kings have endured a disappointing start to IPL 2026, losing all three of their opening matches. Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team currently sits at the bottom of the points table without a single point. Their struggles have been evident across batting, bowling, and fielding, raising concerns about overall performance. Both Gaikwad and head coach Stephen Fleming have faced criticism, especially after the heavy defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where CSK conceded a massive 250 runs.

During this difficult phase, a fan took to social media, urging the franchise to bring in Kevin Pietersen as a mentor. Pietersen had served in a similar role with Delhi Capitals last season but opted out in IPL 2026 to focus on commentary duties.

Pietersen, who had drawn attention last year for taking a break in the Maldives during IPL 2025, responded to the fan in his usual light-hearted style, once again referencing the destination.

Following his reply, the Delhi Capitals joined the online exchange and tagged KL Rahul. Pietersen and Rahul had built a strong rapport last season and were often seen sharing humorous moments.

CSK’s difficulties have also been compounded by the absence of key players like MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis. The team suffered defeats against the Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and RCB in their opening fixtures.

However, there is some positive news, as both Dhoni and Brevis are expected to return for CSK’s upcoming clash against Delhi Capitals on April 11.
