Ex-IPL winners Sunrisers Hyderabad ‘unhappy’, report says they will write to BCCI

Sunrisers Hyderabad are in a tough spot in IPL 2026, losing two of their first three games as their usually reliable batting lineup struggles to fire. Their most recent defeat came against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, where SRH stumbled early, falling to 26/4 in just over seven overs. However, half-centuries from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen helped them recover to post 156/9.

In reply, LSG captain Rishabh Pant anchored the chase with an unbeaten 68 off 50 balls, guiding his side to a 157-run target in 19.5 overs. Pant hit the winning boundary off Jaydev Unadkat. In a quirky moment, bowler Avesh Khan accidentally struck the ball back into play while celebrating, but replays confirmed it didn’t violate any rules.

“According to sources, the franchise is unhappy with Heinrich Klaasen being given out, caught at the boundary by Phil Salt off Romario Shepherd in their opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They were also dissatisfied with Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal in their second game against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 2. Additionally, concerns have reportedly been raised regarding Varun Chakravarthy’s catch off Blessing Muzarabani at deep square leg.”

“There are talks that Sunrisers might contact the BCCI regarding this incident, along with a few other situations,” a report on Cricbuzz claimed.

Sunrisers started the 19th season of the tournament with a defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, the Ishan Kishan-led team returned to winning ways in the away match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The 2016 champions are struggling, with the batters and bowlers finding it hard to script consistent performances. The Men in Orange are also missing regular captain Pat Cummins, who is recovering from a back injury and is expected to return in the second half of the competition.
