KKR vs PBKS Match 12: Key player battles to watch out for in IPL 2026

Kolkata Knight Riders will compete with Punjab Kings at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday, April 6, in what promises to be a high-voltage clash.

The three-time title winners, Kolkata Knight Riders, have stumbled early in IPL 2026, losing to the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their batting lineup and bowling unit have failed.

Punjab Kings have carried their momentum from IPL 2025 into this season. Led by Shreyas Iyer, the side has played aggressive cricket to register wins in both opening matches. They thumped the Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. They will be eyeing a third straight victory on Monday.

Blessing Muzarabani vs Priyansh Arya

Blessing Muzarabani had a tough introduction to the IPL, going for plenty of runs against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. He, however, bounced back impressively at Eden Gardens, picking up four wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Zimbabwe pacer will be aiming to make early breakthroughs with the new ball, especially targeting the in-form Priyansh Arya.

Priyansh Arya, on the other hand, made a strong impression in the previous game against the Chennai Super Kings. The left-handed batsman struck 39 runs off just 11 balls, including three fours and four sixes. He will look to replicate the impact in the upcoming match on Monday.

Kartik Tyagi vs Shreyas Iyer

Kartik Tyagi has stood out with his energetic spells, proving to be the most dynamic bowler for the Knights this season. He has consistently bowled at a good pace and will focus on troubling Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer with well-placed short deliveries.

Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, has been in fine touch, scoring 18 off 11 balls against the Gujarat Titans and a rapid 50 off 29 deliveries versus Chennai Super Kings. Once he gets settled at the crease, he has the potential to take control and put the three-time champions on the back foot.

Arshdeep Singh vs Finn Allen

Arshdeep Singh’s start to IPL 2026 has been below expectations, as he has gone wicketless while conceding over 40 runs in each of his two appearances against the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings. He will be looking to bounce back strongly, especially against Finn Allen, whose aggressive approach at the top has been difficult to contain. Any movement with the new ball could be crucial in testing the opener early.

Finn Allen, on the other hand, has been in explosive form, scoring 65 runs from only 24 deliveries in two matches. His average of 32.50 is solid, but it is his remarkable strike rate of 270.84 that underlines his attacking intent. With KKR under pressure after consecutive defeats, it will be interesting to see if Allen sticks to his natural game or shows some restraint.
