Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best fast bowlers in the history of international cricket. He is dominating the batters across formats and has won big matches for the Indian National Cricket Team. He can pick up wickets in any situation as he forces the batter to make mistakes. He has been unstoppable in Test cricket, including overseas series. In white-ball cricket, he played a key role in the team’s success in back-to-back T20 World Cups.
Veteran India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh heaped massive praise on the right-arm speedster. He recalled Bumrah’s fiery spell at 16. Yuvraj was put on the back foot by Bumrah. “I was trying to stage my comeback to the Indian team after recovering from cancer. Bumrah was 16, and he was bowling in the nets. I was like, ‘I want this kid out of here and stop bowling to me’. I wanted to stop him. I was trying to make a comeback, and he was bowling lethally,” Yuvraj told Vaughan on The Overlap Cricket.
“Bumrah told me this story after a while. I told him that I was not willing to face him because he was bowling too quick,” he added.
Yuvraj highlighted Bumrah’s growth as a bowler. “His run-up was long, but I was not sure about his skills. He was quick and got bounced. He gets into the ribs of the batters, which is not easy to face,” he revealed.
Yuvraj called him the best in the game. “He is the best bowler as batters don’t go after him. They are scared of him. They rotate the strike when he bowls. He has got skills, and it is hard to pick his slower one.”
Bumrah is currently playing for the five-time champions Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2026.
